Shotcrete & Shoring Melbourne

Shoring holds the ground back so a basement can be dug safely next to boundaries, neighbours and services. Soldier or contiguous piles, shotcrete facing, capping beams and anchors are sequenced with the excavation as the dig goes down.

YellowX self-performs shoring and shotcrete in-house — the clearest technical advantage we bring to a basement. The team designing the sequence is the team excavating and retaining, so retention keeps pace with the dig and the whole below-ground scope stays with one contractor.

What's included

  • Soldier-pile and contiguous-pile retention
  • Shotcrete facing and soil-nail walls

Shotcrete & Shoring — FAQs

What retention systems do you install?

Most commonly soldier-pile or contiguous-pile walls with shotcrete infill, capping beams, and ground anchors or propping where the retained height needs it. The right system is chosen with the geotechnical engineer for the ground and the neighbours.

Why does self-performing shoring matter?

On a basement, the excavation and the retention have to advance together, safely. When one contractor self-performs both, there’s no waiting on a separate shoring subbie and no gap in accountability — which reduces delay and risk for the builder.

Is the shoring design certified?

Yes. Shoring and deep excavation are always carried out to a qualified engineer’s design and certification for the specific site conditions and retained height.
